Our food philosophy

We are passionate about food, service, and people

The Western Fair District is evolving its Food & Beverage program in a big way. Being an agricultural society, we are going back to our roots and are focusing on fresh, local, seasonal cuisine. This is our chance to create something big. We’re looking to create unique, genuine experiences for our guests through the lens of hospitality.

We are reimagining our food and beverage operations to use top local ingredients you can find and to work directly with farmers and local food producers. We are in the infancy of our evolution, and we are looking to create unmatched hospitality experiences.

The Western Fair District is home to hundreds of food and beverage events each year. From Friday night at the races, and a local-focused farmer’s market cafe, to our annual Western Fair & Midway and a Four-Rink Sports Centre hosting international events, we do it all and we’re focused on doing even more. This is a great opportunity to be part of the team driving that change in a multi-outlet food and beverage organization contributing hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact in the City of London.

Mission

To elevate the local food and beverage culture here at Western Fair District by promoting high-quality, local and seasonal food & beverage items.

Vision

To provide insanely good meals and hospitality while featuring local producers and artisans.

Values

The local food economy and local agriculture are our driving forces. Respect, goodwill, hard work, quality, and accountability are cornerstones of our brand.

About Western Fair District

The Western Fair District (WFD) is a multi-faceted, not-for-profit, Agricultural Society, based in the heart of London, Ontario. WFD is a member-driven organization supported by an extensive group of volunteers and staff. Through its programming and facilities it is a leading year-round agriculture, entertainment, commercial, sports and recreation destination for residents of the city of London and far beyond, anchored by its signature event, the annual Western Fair.

A Piece of London’s History

Late in the year of 1867 The Western Fair Association was founded through the amalgamation of the East Middlesex Agricultural Society and the London District Horticultural and Agricultural Society.

The first official meeting of the new Association was in 1868 and the very first Western Fair, which was predominantly livestock shows, was held on September 29 & 30, on the lands surrounding the Crystal Palace Barracks. The location was just north of what is today known as Victoria Park in downtown London, Ontario.

Shortly thereafter, the fair was moved east of Adelaide Street, to the beautiful Old East Village neighbourhood, to what was known as Salter’s Grove, now called Queens Park.
